Celebrating Women Photographers And Their Stories

On this International Women’s Day, we want to recognize women behind the lens — and the women whose stories they tell. Stories about resilience, about confidence, about leadership, and about strength.

Bonnie Chiu, Gina LeVay, Barbara Kinney, and Delphine Diallo are just a few of the women in our industry who are helping forge a more inclusive, gender-equal world. Join us in celebrating what they do, and what others like them do, each and every day.

When my mother, Rosa Jasovich, was Secretary General of the Federation Democratique International des Femmes (FeDIM) she was one of the delegates that, as NGO in the UN, fought and won for the celebration of an International Day of Women. March 8 was established as that day. My mother died on March 8th, 1997. Your video made me tearful and to cry openly when it shows Hilary Clinton. Thank you in my mother's name... and mine, also.

When you become wings beneath a woman's wings and allow them to say what they have to say with photography there are no stupid questions only freedom to understand. In a small college I watched my students dare to do great things with that voice. So many times its not about discouraging the technique that were weak its about freeing the message they have. Every living person should have someone in their life who believes in them when they don't believe in themselves.
Frees them to be all they can be. I know my own life was magnified by a Finnish immigrant who came over by boat at 16 through Ellis island. Because he changed my world with kindness and encouragement he has shinned through my life to those around me. He was a gift that goes on. Thank You Pete.

Great piece: well edited and very compelling. Photography, and really all art, crosses boundaries between cultures and gender and time. What we can share emotionally is what makes us all human.
